About Actions
Free Action Scripts for Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3
The following FREE Action scripts for PHOTOSHOP CS, CS2 and CS3 provide a variety of benefits from improving plug-in performance on certain types of images to optimizing the plug-ins for unique effects to create better images. Once the Actions are loaded into the Actions Palette, they can be played in a fully automatic mode to affect a selected image of layer, and the Actions can also be customized by advanced users to fine-tune their results.
See the Action descriptions below and the associated download links. Each download file will contact an Action file (.atn) and a sample image (jpeg).
ROC OUTLAND ACTION Works with the ROC Plug-In to restore, correct, and balance color of digital images with problems of tinting, color casting, fading, or abnormal lighting. It is best for extremely tinted images with little or no information in one of the color channels.
SHO SPOTLIGHTER ACTION Works with the SHO Plug-In to reveal details hidden in the shadows and highlights. It emphasizes skin tones and detail areas in the center (or focal point) of your image. It de-emphasizes the outer edges of the image by applying a subtle vignette, leaving the dark and light areas near the edges untouched.
GEM SHARP ACTION Complements the GEM Plug-In to reduce image noise and film grain. It preserves image detail and sharpness and reduces noise and grain.
AIR DIMENSIONAL ACTION Supplements the GEM Airbrush Plug-In to smooth skin surfaces. It adds subtle shadowing detail to areas that may appear too flat. It works on skin-tone areas, as well as background elements, to bring back shadow dimensionality while maintaining the smoothing effects of the plug-in.
To load the Actions scripts in Photoshop :
1) Make sure that you have the most current version (v2.1) of the corresponding KODAK PROFESSIONAL Image Enhancement plug-ins installed and available in your filter menu under ‘Kodak’.
2) Extract the Action file (.atn) and sample JPEG from the ZIP archive to any location on your computer. Make note of that location since you will need it for loading the Actions into Photoshop.
3) Open Photoshop and make sure the Actions palette is visible. If the Actions palette is not visible, click the Photoshop "Window" drop down menu and select "Actions" which will make the palette appear in your workspace.
4) Click on the small arrow button in the top right corner of the Actions palette and select ‘Load Actions’. Browse to the location where you saved the action file (.ATN extension), select the file and click ‘ok’. The action will appear in the Actions palette. Add the other action files in the same way.
5) Once you’ve loaded all the actions, open an image file or select a layer without a mask, and simply select or highlight the action you wish to use from the specific action folder. Then click on the "Play Arrow" at the bottom of the Actions palette. The action will run and automatically provide the result. To "undo" the effects of the action, go to the "History" palette and click on the thumbnail at the top of the palette for the original image.

Advanced Users:
Advanced Photoshop users may want to adjust the action to customize it for their personal taste. One easy customization is to have the dialog box displayed when the plug-in is called so you may adjust the settings to something other than the default. See ‘Using the Actions Palette’ in the Photoshop help for a description of how to do this.
The first time the action is played, a copyright notice will be displayed. You may remove the checkmark next to the first step in the action to disable the display of this notice.

You may modify or copy these actions for your own use, but deleting the copyright notice, distributing the actions, or distributing modified versions of the actions is prohibited.

KADC Actions for Photoshop
IAIR Dimensional, GEM Sharp, SHO Spotlighter, and ROC Outland. Each of these four actions uses one of our four professional plug-ins. The AIR Dimensional action addresses two issues some customers have experienced with the DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional Plug-In: Faces look too flat and things besides faces are over smoothed. The GEM Sharp action automates the DIGITAL GEM Professional Plug-In, providing full grain reduction without softening the image. The SHO Spotlighter action uses the DIGITAL SHO Professional Plug-In to automatically emphasize areas of interest and de-emphasize background elements, adding more visual impact to subject without any obvious vignette. The ROC Outland action improves the performance of the DIGITAL ROC Professional Plug-In on images where one of the color channels contains little or no information, for example underwater or infrared images.
